Amazon Announces $10 Billion Investment in North Carolina to Expand Cloud and AI Infrastructure.

RALEIGH, NC– Amazon has unveiled plans to invest $10 billion & in North Carolina to expand its cloud computing infrastructure and accelerate, artificial intelligence (AI) innovation. The investment, centered in ;Richmond County, will create hundreds of high-skilled jobs, support workforce training programs, and fund local community initiatives.

The massive investment will enhance; Amazon Web Services (AWS);data centers, boosting cloud storage, AI model training, and enterprise solutions. This expansion reinforces Amazon’s position as a leader in ;next-gen computing, supporting businesses, researchers, and government agencies with advanced AI and machine learning tools.

Main Highlights: 

• Amazon’s New $10B Investment in North Carolina:
  Amazon is set to pour $10 billion into building out its AI infrastructure in North Carolina, which will generate 500 high-skilled jobs and support thousands more through the AWS data center supply chain.
  

• Long-Term Economic Impact:
  Since 2010, Amazon has funneled $12 billion into the state, boosting North Carolina’s GDP by $13.1 billion and directly supporting around 24,000 full- and part-time jobs. An additional 26,000 jobs have been sustained indirectly across Amazon’s local operations.
  

• Focus on Education and Workforce Training:
  Amazon will roll out community-focused education initiatives, such as data center technician training, fiber optic splicing workshops, and STEM programs tailored to K–12 students.
  
• Community Support Through New Fund:
  The company is also launching the Amazon Richmond County Community Fund, starting with a $150,000 investment. Grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to local projects focused on STEM education, sustainability, job training, economic development, and overall community health.
